Today marks the 59th anniversary of the birth of Taekwon-Do on April 11th, 1955. General Choi Hong Hi spent many years and countless hours prior to this date, as well as many years after building this art for all of us to practice. Today we carry on the Legacy he left for all us. MacKenzie Taekwon-Do took a team of 22 athletes to the Maritime Open Martial Arts Tournament held in Amherst, NS on Saturday, April 4th and brought home 41 medals (12 Gold, 12 Silver and 19 Bronze). Congratulations to all athletes on a great effort!

Congratulations also goes out to Haley O'Neil, Trevor Daigle and Logan LaPierre on a great performance at the Nationals coming just shy of medal contention. Laura MacKenzie suffered a knee injury during her first pattern and was unable to compete for the rest of the competition.

Black belt medal winners include Zack Cameron (Silver in patterns, Bronze in sparring), Ryan O'Neil (Gold in patterns, Gold in sparring, Silver in pre-arranged sparring) and Sean O'Neil (Gold in patterns, Gold in sparring, Gold in Special Technique Breaking, Silver in pre-arranged sparring). All 3 athletes also qualified for the National Team and will compete at the World Championships in Spain this October.
