Nickolaus Turbide on his promotion to 1st degree Black Belt. The grading was conducted by
Mr. Ken MacKenzie, 6th degree Black Belt, who put Mr. Turbide to the test

Winter Storm Closure Policy...
If classes are cancelled due to a winter
storm and unsafe driving conditions
a message will be placed on our phone line at (902) 835-7111 at least one
hour prior to the scheduled classes.
If the message doesn't mention cancelled classes, then classes will be on.
2011
December 17th, 2011...
On December 9th, Mr. MacKenzie
was promoted to the rank of 6th Degree Black Belt. The grading took place in
Trois-Rivières and
was conducted by Master Laquerre, 8th degree Black Belt and Technical
Director for the Canadian Taekwon-Do Federation International. After
training for the required 5 years and accounting for the 6 month reduction
in the time requirement from having attended two of the ITF International
Instructors courses, Mr. MacKenzie was tested on many aspects of Taekwon-Do.
In addition to completing a 20 page thesis, the 2 hour testing covered 23
patterns, fundamental exercises, breaking and a rigorous fitness test
including 250 each of push ups, sit ups and jumping jacks. Now Mr. MacKenzie
moves on to the new journey of preparing for 7th Degree, the first level of
Master which entails 6 years of training before qualifying for the right to
test.

MacKenzie Taekwon-Do sent a team of 5 athletes to the 2012 CTFI Nationals
held in Calgary, Alberta on November 12, 2011. The team was very successful
with the following results:

O’Neil – Gold (Patterns) & Silver (Sparring)
· Logan
LaPierre – Silver (Sparring)
· Zack
Cameron – Silver (Patterns) & Silver (Sparring)
· Ryan
O’Neil – Gold (Patterns) & Gold (Sparring)
· Sean
O’Neil – Gold (Patterns) & Gold (Sparring)
· Sean
& Ryan O’Neil – Gold (Pre-Arranged Sparring)
· Sean,
Ryan, Zack, Logan – Gold (Team Sparring)
That’s a total of 7 Gold and 4 Silver medals. As well, Ryan O’Neil won the
Overall Junior Male Athlete due to the most points earned. Congrats Team
from all of us at MacKenzie Taekwon-Do.
